
Noreen Denzil is a self-taught portrait artist, born in Glasgow, and has recently moved to Cambridgeshire from London. She specialises in iconic portraiture and her main medium is pastels. Noreen’s objective with her paintings is to capture the characteristics and personality that symbolises the icon. Her work has successfully exhibited in Central London, Glasgow and Sussex which include solo exhibitions in Cork St, Mayfair. Her main inspirations and influences are a variety of artists from Salvador Dali to Michelangelo Caravaggio and photographers such as David Bailey and George Hurrell. Noreen says ‘I try to emulate the realism of Caravaggio’s work and powerful portraits by David Bailey in my work. Using pastels helps me to capture the soft tones of the subject’s face.’
